A Letter to President

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Rajeshkumar, from a Village named Nattampatti, Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, India. I am a proud Indian who values our country’s rich heritage, culture, and traditions. I have a deep appreciation for the sacrifices our forefathers made to secure our freedom, and I am grateful for the democracy that we have today. I strongly believe democracy is more than just a system of government – it represents our collective voice and the power of the people to shape our nation’s future.

I am writing this email to draw your attention towards the increasing practice of vote buying in Indian elections. As we all know, the practice of giving money or other incentives to voters to influence their decision is illegal and unethical. However, it is very unfortunate that this practice is still rampant in many parts of the country, especially during by-elections.

Recently, during the Erode by-election, we have seen how the voters were given money, food, movie tickets, groceries, and even silver ornaments to influence their voting decision. This practice is a direct attack on democracy and the sanctity of the election process.

It is disheartening to see that even though every election officer is aware of this malpractice, they are unable to take any strict action due to the lack of proper laws. It is high time that we take some concrete steps to stop this illegal practice and uphold the integrity of our election process.

I strongly believe that the Election Commission of India can play a pivotal role in curbing this menace. I urge you to start a campaign to raise awareness among the voters and educate them about the importance of their vote and the consequences of selling their vote. Moreover, it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

I understand that the political parties in power may not want to take strict action against this practice, but the Election Commission must act as the watchdog of democracy and take necessary steps to ensure that the election process remains fair and transparent.

In conclusion, I request you to take necessary action to stop this practice of vote buying. If we don’t take any action now, it will have a detrimental impact on the concept of democracy and the nation as a whole. I hope you will take this matter seriously and take necessary action to curb this malpractice.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,
Rajeshkumar Muthaiah
